Friday Five
YouTube, CD albums from the 00s, GTD forever
I love The Minimal Mom, but just saw this friendly spoof of her by That Awkward Mom (new to me) and it was pretty great.
I am rediscovering my love of playing albums (albeit on Spotify); it’s so comforting to know what’s coming next. We still have a shelf of CDs but we mostly use Google Home for music, which makes me wonder: should I move my current favorite CD cases to where the Google Home sits so I can have a visual of what I want to listen to?? Anyhoo, here’s our current breakfast rotation (looking for a Thursday recommendation!):
Monday: Mozart for Meditation (the perfectly alliterative album for Monday Mush)
Tuesday: In Between Dreams
Wednesday: Feels Like Home (or my Breakfast Worship playlist if it’s too gloomy; these rotations change somewhat by season, so bringing in this album is recent coz the sun just started shining here)
Thursday: In Between Dreams, again
Friday: Lo-Fi Fruits (this is a playlist, but we play it in the same order)
This last week I switched from a Moleskine GTD to a discbound GTD… I know I know it’s cray cray because I juuuust switched back from Moleskine Bullet Journalling to Moleskine GTD…ing. This trial has been approached with much trepidation, I assure you. So far, I do like the flexibility of rearranging stuff, and also I like that I can try out different “Projects” sections without having to commit to a random chunk of pages that I might later want back. I splurged and bought the special hole puncher so I can customize my own pages. (I used to make my own school planners with the coil-binding machine at my high school 🤓).
Part of what has supported my adjustment to switching to a discbound system is listening to the guys at The Productivity Show talk about GTD. I particularly have gained insight from hearing how they tackle the beast that is The Weekly Review as well as how they deal with hybridizing digital and analog tools.
I have been writing a lot lately (which is great, yay!) but I’m also hoping to get back to reading fiction. So far I’m enjoying Imposter Syndrome and Other Confessions of Alejandra Kim.
