public brain dump no. 1
wringing out the sponge
I needed to write a post that just gets everything out of my brain and into the world. So here it is.
Just when everyone is starting summer break, I’m going back to school.
I tend to get my “new year energy” in the spring, and try to set myself some parameters of learning by pretending I’m back in college and taking 4 classes. This year I’ve been extra busy, so it’s taken a little longer to get my “correspondence course” curriculum put together. I’m excited for the classes I’m taking this term.
This video on Alana’s planner inspired me to make a binder with separate calendars for each class. I’m going to log and track progress here (“planning from behind” ala Leslie A. Banks), and I think it’s going to help inspire me when I can see the progress in one area of growth over the long-term.
I shared these templates last year so you can “sign up” for your own classes!
If you are a neurodivergent parent, you might like this YouTube channel, That AUDHD Mum.
I discovered Jess the other day and really like her stuff. My goal (as you might have seen on my syllabus above) is to comment on her channel (and/or reach out to her in some form) soon.
Her free “Bad Day Survival Printables” are gold.
And now, some quotes I heard that I had to write down immediately.
“being well adjusted to a sick society is not a measure of health.” —decolonial thoughts
“vulnerability is at the core of the just world that we imagine.” —rose june percy
Lastly: I am kicking myself for not noting whose Substack I was reading when I came across the author’s rant about the the terminology “blind contour” ub drawing, I deeply felt their intense opinionatednessx and so I penned an excerpt from their sidebar below:
Some decent comedies on Netflix.
How’s that for random? I feel pretty sure that once I hit “publish” I’m going to remember all kinds of things I wanted to say, but that’s okay, because I will have another opportunity next week (and I’m allowed to post more than once in a week…).
